Our self-confidence has a snowball affect on our creativity. It can snowball us in either a positive or a negative direction. This book is about more fully leveraging your creative sources, which brings confidence to be creative. To be confidently creative is the goal.
Finding your creative strengths leads to increasing your confidence. Does confidence lead to creativity or vice-versa? It is a continuous virtuous cycle. Capitalizing on our resources to be more fully creative will build our confidence. A virtuous cycle is when a result gives rise to another that subsequently supports the first. The opposite is a vicious cycle where unfavorable experience results in a downward cycle. Either way these cycles tend to be self-reinforcing loops. Read more about this in my book.
Betsy,
As an artist, I find that this premise sounds logical and compelling. You touch on a complex subject that only appears to be simple and straight forward. I look forward to reading more. And I enjoy your colorful book cover!
I wonder (and will soon find out by reading) if you consider in your book that negative esteem can lead to manifesting dark and disjointed work that can be nonetheless brilliantly articulated as exacting replica of its pathological motivation? We humans have found many ways to be creative in destruction, mostly through our brokenness. And it would seem that we all have need to express ourselves and to be heard, even if cowering in a corner and reluctant to speak. Of course, that said, every artist — every human – owes it to her or himself to use discipline to energize what will be a better option for self and others. We can only pray for ourselves and others who may lack awareness to discern these differences. It is so easy to be ignorant or even deceived.
I look forward to reading your book and am sure to gain insights. Congratulations on tackling such an important subject. It is a challenge that many might not suspect to be so great. Kudos.
Thanks for the heads up!
Lisa

Hi Lisa,
What a thoughtful message you left with me. Thank you so much for being open about creativity takes and reading my book. I look forward to your feedback. Yes I do believe darkness inspires creativity, it can be a journey to accept it, understand it and dig through it. We live in a cruciform reality I believe. We get sick if we can’t create as humans, as the creator’s fingerprints live in us. If our creator just keeps on creating through evolution and revolutions, so shouldn’t we also follow?
I just checked out your website, wow you do wonderful work. Also love “Lawrence bought a truck and headed out with camping gear to Santa Fe, New Mexico.” I left my corporate job in Houston, Texas, threw my work suit in the dumpster, filled up the tank and drove as fast as I could to be in NM many years ago!
Cheers,
Betsy
Betsy,
I can’t wait to meet you in person! So MANY reasons, actually. Let’s set up a time soon, OK? I feel a little behind the scenes spiritual arranging going on here …
Where do you recommend getting a copy of your book locally ASAP?
And thank you for your kind comments on my work!
